There is a 3-year warranty on the pre-sprouting bags, provided. The pre-sprouting bags are only used for the purpose of pre-sprouting potatoes, do not come into contact with chemicals and are stored in a dark place after use. The General Terms and conditions of TradeMax are based on Eurojute terms and conditions.

There is a 1-year warranty on the pre-sprouting racks, provided. The pre-sprouting racks are only used for the purpose of pre-sprouting potatoes.

In practice, the lifespan of the products is much longer. If the pre-sprouting bags are stored in a dark place after emptying and used once a year, they have a lifespan of more than 10 years. In practice, the germination racks have a lifespan of more than 40 years. There are no moving parts in the racks.

Let the wind do the work for you. Practical experience has shown that 75% of hardening off is done by the wind and 25% by sunlight. The wind also blows at night and comes into contact with shadow side of the tuber. The wind removes condensation and CO2 and prevents too rapid growth. The aim is to create a short, hard sprout with a maximum length of 5 mm.

Position the pre-sprouting racks as follows:
1. Place the racks in the windiest place in your yard and
as far away as possible from buildings.
2. Place the racks 2-high, on a hard, flat surface.
3. Place the racks at least 1 m apart.
4. Place the racks in a north-south direction, if possible. During warm humid weather, with little wind, the wind usually blows from the south. All the potatoes receive sunlight as the sun moves.
5. Ensure the seed potatoes do not freeze.
6. If the seed potatoes are exposed to temperatures of 1-3°C for more than 3 days, they may be damaged by frost.
7. In a late spring, windbreak planting may become too leafy and dense. Place the pre-sprouting racks away from the windbreak planting, if possible.

1. Pre-sprouting gives seed potatoes the optimal physiological age. The seed potatoes are not too young because of being stored too cold. The seed potatoes are not too old thanks to good removal of condensation and CO2 through the wide-mesh bags.

2. The role of the mother tuber ends sooner so there is a lower risk of contamination during lifting.

3. Pre-sprouting separates the seed potatoes quicker. Any latent infections are visible sooner which enables earlier selection.

Yes, it protects the potatoes in various ways:
1. A pre-sprouted seed potato crop develops older leaves faster than a non-pre-sprouted crop. This creates age-related resistance. In a young leaf, virus transmission from an infected leaf to the tuber takes about 3-4 days. With older leaves, this is about 11 days.
2. A pre-sprouted crop has a good yield on the haulm destruction dates.

a. For some purposes, such as first early potatoes a low number of tubers per plant is the best way to achieve size 40 mm as quickly as possible with a sufficient underwater weight. A young seed potato must be properly hardened off to retain the top shoot.

b. Producing fresh potatoes and seed potatoes requires a uniform yield with as many tubers as possible. This can be achieved by allowing the top shoot on the seed potatoes to grow first. Then break the sprout by turning the crate or passing through the receiving hopper. A better result is obtained with some varieties, such as Agria, by turning the crate 2 or 3 times. This encourages the other sprouts. These weaker sprouts can then be hardened off in the pre-sprouting bags into sturdy, hard sprouts that will not break.

* Yes, provided it is done correctly. This means:
– healthy seed potatoes, no signs of rot.
– temperature at cutting of 12-14°C
– always use disinfected blades and apply talcum powder on the cut surface.
– cut and fill the pre-sprouting bags in one operation.
– Place the pre-sprouting racks with cut seed potatoes in a shed at 8-15ºC for 2 weeks.
The cut seed potatoes will not dry out or rot in these conditions. No condensation forms in pre-sprouting bags.
– After two weeks, the filled sprouting racks can be placed outdoors to harden off the sprouts. The cured cut surface is now just as resistant to rain as the skin of the potatoes.
